Join us for this exciting new trip to visit some of the spiritual centers of India!
April 3rd we arrive in India where we will be picked up at the airport by our local guide, the lovely Chandan Singh, who will escort us individually to the hotel where we will meet the group.
On April 4th we start the trip itself with a tour of New Delhi. While seeing the old city we will visit the site of Gandhi’s cremation, take rickshaw rides around the bustling streets, visit the aromatic spice market, and see other colorful and cultural sites.
On April 5th we will begin our bus tour and head north with a drive to Amritsar in which we will visit the Golden Temple, the holy site of the Sikh’s.
The next day, on April 6th we’ll drive to the foothills of the Himalayan mountains and visit Dharamsala which houses the Dalai Lama’s monastery and the Tibetan Buddhist community in exile. We will spent the full day of April 7th there to drop deeper into this busy and spiritually charged mountain town. We will have the opportunity to meditate at the Dalai Lama’s temple, do some spiritual shopping with the numerous Tibetan vendors, and also visit the Bhagsunath Waterfall.
On April 8th we travel to Manali aka The Jewels of The Himalayas to visit some local sites and tour the city. On April 9th we continue to the neighboring town of Vashisht to visit the ancient 4000 year old templed sulfur hot springs, which are purported to have healing powers.
April 10th we head onwards to Rishikesh, the yoga capital of India located on the holy Ganges River. On April 11 we will tour Rishikesh and visit the ashram where the Beatle’s lived and practiced, walking through the ruins of their meditation cells and chambers. We can also visit Haridwar, the neighboring town with it’s holy hill temple and mass purification bathing rituals.
On April 12 we will fly to Varanasi, which is supposedly the oldest continuously inhabited city on Earth. On April 13th we will explore this very ancient and energetic city, starting with a sunrise boat trip onto the Ganges where we will see the pyres where bodies are being cremated. There may be an opportunity on this day to also drive to neighboring Saranath, a powerful Buddhist pilgrimage site known as the place where the Buddha gave his first sermon.
On April 14th we will fly back to Delhi, have some time for shopping or sightseeing or resting, before we say our goodbyes and fly out on the 15th.
